A Magical North Glasgow 5k
The NG5K is truly an event for everyone with those taking part ranging from seasoned runners and joggers to parents with pushchairs. Regardless of ability, however, participants were asked to enter into the spirit of the ‘Magic’ theme and come in fancy dress – with the best costumes receiving prizes.
After completing the course Patricia Ferguson said:
"Every year the NG5K gets bigger and better. It has now trebled in size since it started in 2006 and it is a great fun day out for all the family. The whole community gets involved in the event and, as ever, the support from local residents has been fantastic – from those taking part in the run to the people along the route encouraging participants on their way.
"It is always great to see so many local young people taking part – and I know that the development of 1k runs for local primary schools in the weeks leading up to the main event really encourages them to get involved.
"As the event nearly always takes place in the middle of an election campaign I get my training from being out knocking doors and delivering leaflets. I enjoyed taking part along with my colleague, Ann McKechin MP, and will hang my 2012 medal alongside those from previous years in my office in the Scottish Parliament."
